Blue Point Grill in Newtown, PA, is the second location of the renowned Princeton, NJ-based seafood restaurant founded by Jack Morrison and the JM Group. Following its original 1999 opening, the restaurant expanded to Newtown in August 2023, bringing its signature, simply prepared, fresh seafood—sourced from sustainable fisheries—to the former Corner Bakery Cafe location.
This restaurant was a surprisingly lovely experience. There were 7 of us and we were seated in a nice semiprivate area. Although by ourselves with the ability to hear each other and be as noisy as we wanted, it was still open and airy. There is also an outdoor patio and bar area that are worth checking out.
Our server, Mike, was very attentive, interactive, knowledgeable and personable. He handled our “off the menu” requests well. At times, though, being in our private setting, it felt like they could have forgotten we were there. Service was a little slow but probably just had to do with our dynamic.
FOOD (Appetizers and Desserts shared by couples)
Appetizers: Calamari, Clams Casino, Shrimp Dumplings
Entrees: Cabo Shrimp Salad, Shrimp Tacos, Baked Halibut, Horseradish Crusted
Rainbow Trout, Shrimp and Salmon Risotto, Shrimp Scampi
Dessert: Peanut Butter Pie, Apple Crumble, Key Lime Pie
The appetizers were great. Especially the calamari, which was reviewed as the best ever (so far). Four of our entrees contained shrimp and we all agreed they were perfectly cooked. The Halibut was tender and delicious. The salad was easy to eat and had a nice tarragon dressing. The Risotto had a good sized piece of salmon on top and the sauce was delicious. The scampi was garlicky and very good. The tacos had a nice citrusy salad and a side of spicy remoulade sauce. Portions were filling, but we were not stuffed.
Prices seemed on par with today's market prices. Not inexpensive but for the quality, we don’t mind paying a little more.
