4 (But I think we all just really like Neapolitan pizza)
Nomad Pizza began in 2006–2007 as a mobile, wood-fired pizza business founded by Tom Grim and Stalin Bedon, featuring a 1949 REO Speedwagon truck, which they purchased on eBay. Due to high demand, they expanded to brick-and-mortar locations in Hopewell, N.J. (2009), South Philadelphia, and Princeton, specializing in artisan Neapolitan-style pizza. They now have a store in Lambertville, NJ which we visited March 15, 2026 and this is our first pizza shop review.
We were joined by our friends John D and Diane. We went on a Saturday which is typically not a good idea, especially at a river town in decent weather. But we went early (4:00pm) and missed the crowd. Though there wasn’t a lot of parking, they have their own lot which helps a lot.
Nomad is a BYOB, but they do conveniently sell wine by the bottle. We started with a salad. John and I had the arugula salad with a tomato, pecans, blue cheese and a lemon dressing It was very good. John D and Diane shared a salad with pecans and blue cheese. They enjoyed it but thought the pecans were too stuck together.
Our first pizza was the special - prosciutto and artichoke. The crust is amazing. Nice and crisp with air bubbles. So easy to eat this type of crust. They actually could put anything on the pizza and I would like it because of this crust. That said, our seond pie was the Marinara. I have had better Marinara pizzas. There were only about 3 pieces of basil on it and the cheese got gummy kind of fast. The sauce was good, but as I said I have had better. The two Johns shared a mushroom pizza. Heard no complaints so I am sure they enjoyed it.
John, John D and Diane, I think, would disagree with me. They all love the pizza and were giving it a 4.5. But I think they were just hungry for pizza. 😊
We did all agree that it was a nice place and great service. Roomy and had an outside eating area for when the weather is better. Will definitely go back.
